Canada's 3-0 victory over the US on Tuesday night in Kosice meant they topped Group A at the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) World Championships.
Early goals from Pierre-Luc Dubois and Kyle Turris, followed by Jared McCann's strike in the second period set Canada on their way to victory.
Canadian captain Turris said his side were pleased to finish the group stages on a "good note".
The result means that Team USA will have to overcome an undefeated Russian side on Thursday in order to progress to the semi-finals.
Head coach Jeff Blashill welcomed the challenge of facing "a real tough opponent."
Canada face rather more gentler opposition in Switzerland..
