South African singer and anti-apartheid activist Johnny Clegg has died at the age of 66.

He was one of the few white artists to defy the segregation laws during the 1970s and 80s.

His exposure to Zulu culture as a child led to his melding of Zulu rhythms and Western music.

Al Jazeera's Fahmida Miller reports from Johannesburg.
