Forty years since releasing their debut album, Scottish rock band Simple Minds aren't slowing down.

Formed in Glasgow in the 1970s, the group is still fronted by founding members lead vocalist Jim Kerr and guitarist Charlie Burchill.

The most commercially successful Scottish band of the 1980s, they sold more than 60 million albums.

This month, the band released a compilation album titled; “40: The Best Of – 1979-2019”.

Reuters reports the release of the new album also serves as the kick-off for the band's anniversary tour in February.

The band is best known for the 80s hit “Don’t You (Forget About Me)” from the teen film “The Breakfast Club”.

The band is also known for addressing political issues in their music like apartheid and Northern Ireland’s conflict period.
