Proud gun owners and members of the Unification Church had their weapons blessed at a special couples' commitment ceremony at Sanctuary Church in Wayne County, Pennsylvania, Wednesday.
The faithful brought along a wide range of weapons to the service, including hand guns, shot guns and assault rifles. The Unification Church is well-known for its Blessing Ceremonies featuring couples.
There was a small counter-demonstration outside. Pastor Steve Rouvi was critical of the ceremony, especially in the wake of the Parkland school shooting that killed 17 people a fortnight ago. "I'm a person of faith, that understands our call to be citizens of this world, a little bit differently from those who would bless guns," said Rouvi.
