According to a report by, scientists now believe that they have solved a 40 year-old mystery that has lingered since NASA's third human space flight program, the Apollo missions. A team of researchers recovered and restored major portions of the previously unarchived data from the program which ran from January 1975 to September 1977. In a paper published by the American Geophysical Union’s Journal of Geophysical Research, scientists now suggest that by walking and drivingon the Moon’s surface, astronauts destroyed its celestial equilibrium. Causing the satellite to reflect less of the Sun’s light back out to space, raising its temperature 1-2 degrees Celsius
