Saudi Arabia said attacks on its oil infrastructure came from the "north" and were "unquestionably" sponsored by Iran, but the kingdom was still investigating the exact location they were launched from.

Showing debris from the alleged weapons used at a news conference on Wednesday, a defence ministry spokesman said the attacks could not have possibly been launched from Yemen, as claimed by the Iran-aligned Houthi rebels.

The Houthis said the attacks on Saudi Aramco were in retaliation for Saudi Arabia's campaign in Yemen.

Al Jazeera's Alex Gatopoulos reports.
