The South Korean military has begun two days of war games to practice defending disputed islands in the Sea of Japan. The defense ministry said the maritime drills are held regularly to simulate an invasion of external forces. Japan's foreign ministry called the exercises "absolutely unacceptable," and demanded their suspension.Tokyo also claims the islands, known as the Liancourt Rocks, and accuses Seoul of illegally occupying them.
