US national hockey team forward Ty Pelton-Byce commented on his side’s 6-3 loss against Slovakia in the 2019 Krasnoyarsk Winter Universiade during a post-match interview on Thursday.
“In most of our games we played pretty well, today we came out a little flat. So, you know, we were happy with how it played at some point, we could do a little better,” he said.
Talking about the US team’s 3-2 loss to Russia on Thursday, he said “We just kind of accepted that we are going to be the road team embraced it had some fun with it and tried to manage the game as much as we could.”
“I thought maybe after the momentum we had coming out of the second period, maybe we'd be able to pull that one out, but we just couldn't quite do it,” Pelton-Byce said.
The American side faces Japan on Saturday.
The 2019 Winter Universiade is an international student and youth competition, which is scheduled to take place from March 2-12, 2019 in the Russian city of Krasnoyarsk.
This is the first time the event takes place in Russia.
