Local residents of Tyumen described the details of an anti-militant operation on Saturday, that took place in the Siberian city a day earlier.
A woman, whose house is located next to one where militant suspects were holed up, recounted that she was "just asked to leave the house" at 21:30 local time (16:30 GMT) on Friday night. "They brought us to the bus and sent to the school," she added.
Another man confirmed hearing the explosions and gunshots. "I've heard three explosions at night. One after another. Someone has thrown grenades," he said.
The operation was completely over by 6:00 local time (01:00 GMT), when people were allowed to return to their homes after spending the night at a local school.
Two militant suspects were killed during the operation on Friday, according to Russia's National Anti-terrorism Committee.
According to officials, the militants were holed up in a private home as Russian special forces stormed the apartment and killed the suspects in return fire.
The Federal Security Service (FSB) say the IS-linked militants were planning to carry out an attack in the local area.
No other casualties were reported during the operation.
