International Space Station (ISS) Expedition 61/62 crew, Roscosmos cosmonaut Oleg Skripochka, NASA astronaut Jessica Meir and UAE astronaut Hazza Al Mansouri, said goodbye to their families in Star City on Tuesday, before heading to the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan.

According to Skripochka, "the crew is very well-prepared” and both, Jessica Meir and Hazza Al Mansouri are “doing far more than is formally necessary in their duties” which “greatly improves the reliability of the implementation” of the programme.

NASA astronaut Jessica Meir added that "it’s been really an unbelievable experience training here in Star City,” adding “it is something hard to put into words."

One of the two first astronauts from the United Arab Emirates Hazza Al Mansouri mentioned that he is “honoured to work here in Star City, where the first human trained to space” as well as to participate in “this international effort to explore space.”

The launch date for the Expedition 61/62 is scheduled for September 25.
