Russian athletes won six medals in Krasnoyarsk on Saturday, giving them 84 medals in total and sending them to the top of the leader board.

On the eighth day of the tournament, the hosts topped the podiums in the women's and men's cross-country skiing as well as in the single mixed relay, adding to to one silver and two bronze medals.

South Korea lie in second 13 medals behind and Japan in third, nine medals behind.

The 2019 Winter Universiade is an international student and youth competition, which is scheduled to take place from 2 to 12 March 2019, in the Russian city of Krasnoyarsk. This is the first time the event takes place in Russia.
