Russia: Gas blast in Rostov Region kills one

A woman was killed in a household gas explosion at a nine-storey residential building in the city of Shakhty, Rostov Region on Monday, according to the Ministry of Emergency Situations (EMERCOM).

EMERCOM said in a statement that four people remain missing while seven have been rescued. A total of 140 people have been evacuated.

The blast damaged apartments on the eighth and ninth storeys of the tower block. A criminal investigation has been opened into the incident.
