Director General of Russia’s State Nuclear Energy Corporation (Rosatom) Alexei Likhachev discussed the future of nuclear energy on the sidelines of the 11th ATOMEXPO International Forum in Sochi on Monday.

Likhachev said that Eurasia is a priority for Rosatom, pointing to the many ongoing projects in the region.

He added that Rosatom is currently negotiating nuclear power plants with Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar, Jordan and Turkey.

Discussing the two-day ATOMEXPO, Likhachev said that “a third of sovereign states are here, not only those states that have nuclear technologies and plants but those who care about the development of nuclear energy. If there is an idea, that is important for a third of the world's states, this idea has a prospect and it worth to uniting around it.”

The forum, themed 'Nuclear for better life,' is expected to gather more than 3,600 guests from 74 different countries to discuss the development of the nuclear industry into Sochi.
