At least nine people were killed in the blast believed to have been caused by a gas leak.

Eight people have been rescued from the rubble, according to Russia's emergencies ministry EMERCOM. Thirty-two people remain missing.

Authorities announced a halt in the search for survivors until the unstable building was secured.
