Moscow is demanding an explanation from the United States over charges brought against a Russian lawyer. The Kremlin's Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova says it has become a habit in the United States to open criminal cases against Russians based on vague claims. Natalia Veselnitskaya is charged with obstructing justice in connection to a money laundering case. Last month, former U.S. Marine Paul Whelan was arrested in Moscow on suspicion of spying. But, the Russian foreign minister dismissed claims the man could be used in a prisoner swap for the lawyer.
