Several buses with unidentified people on board arrived at Moscow’s Vnukovo Airport on Saturday, amidst reports of a prisoners' swap between Ukraine and Russia.

Earlier on Saturday, the buses had left Moscow’s Lefortovo detention facility accompanied by a police escort.

Ruptly was unable to confirm whether the buses were indeed carrying Ukrainian prisoners.

Reports suggest that the plane carrying Ukrainian prisoners will depart Vnukovo Terminal 2 for Kiev International Airport but the reports are yet to be officially confirmed.

On September 5 Russian President Vladimir Putin commented on the possible prisoner exchange, saying that Moscow and Kiev "are approaching the finalisation of the negotiations", adding that the swap would be a "large-scale one, and this would be a good step towards the normalisation of our relations."
