More than 250 US soldiers of the 1st Battalion 'Vanguard', 18th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Armoured Brigade Combat Team and 1st Infantry Division arrived at Mihail Kogalniceanu Air Base, Monday, as part of NATO's Operation 'Atlantic Resolve,' a troop rotation scheme focused on eastern Europe.

During the welcoming ceremony, US Commander of First Battalion 18th Infantry Regiment, Peter Moon, noted the US determination "to continue sustaining and demonstrating our readiness" through "our partner training activities" during what he described as "our historic return to Europe."

Romanian Commander of 282 Merchanised Infantry Brigade 'Union of the Principalities', Claudiu-Mihail Sava, said he saw the training as "a great opportunity to perfect their skills, to improve their knowledge and to further prepare their individuals and groups so that they could perform them [the skills] in a multinational context during common exercises."
