Business Insider reports that a new study shows that 5.2% of all new cancer cases could be the result of diet choices. The new research adds to the already established wealth of research connecting a low intake of whole grains and dairy to preventable cancers in the U.S. Scientists have also established that processed meats, red meat, and sugar-sweetened beverages put people at a much higher risk for cancers. According to Dr. Fang Fang Zhang, a nutrition and cancer researcher told reporters; "These findings underscore the need for reducing cancer burden and disparities in the US by improving the intake of key food groups and nutrients of Americans."
