Rep. Eric Swalwell sparked outrage from his Republican colleagues when he listed a series of comments President Donald Trump has made and then called them "racist." "Birtherism is racist. Saying a Mexican judge can't be fair because of his heritage is racist. Saying immigrants from Mexico are rapists is racist," Swalwell said. Republicans quickly objected to Swalwell's comments. But the Democratic representative from California then challenged them, asking whether they thought the comments he mentioned were not racist. Swalwell, who recently dropped out of the 2020 presidential election, spoke ahead of a House of Representatives vote to condemn Trump's recent comments telling four minority congresswomen to go back to their home countries.
