Protester in Iraq Hit With Tear Gas at Close Range

Captured on video is the moment an Iraqi police officer fired a tear gas canister at a protester at close range, in Baghdad, Wednesday, January 29.

Mass anti-government protests have been ongoing in Iraq since October 1.

More than 450 people have been killed during the protests.

The movement is challenging Iraq’s Shi’ite Muslim-dominated and Iran-backed ruling elite class, which emerged after Saddam Hussein was toppled in 2003. (REUTERS)
