The federal government has launched an investigation into whether a Nova Scotia group is using “Métis cards” to get tax breaks on big-ticket items. Allegations against the Eastern Woodland Métis Nation were made by Saint Mary's University Prof. Darryl Leroux, a critic of what he has called "new Métis" and the sudden proliferation of self-reported Métis in Eastern Canada.
