In a speech to high-ranking Vatican clergy, Pope Francis has pledged to bring the perpetrators of child sex abuse in the Catholic Church to justice, condemning those responsible in the strongest terms he’s used so far.

However, after decades of hushing up these cases, mostly in developed countries, many victims fear that the church's paedophile priests will still remain in office.

But some within the clergy are more hopeful that his words will translate into real action.
