Police call on journalists to show mutual respect

Hong Kong police have called on journalists to respect each other's freedom. The call came after an incident during Tuesday's press conference, in which local journalists asked a reporter from the mainland to show her ID while accusing her of being a fake reporter. She was surrounded by about 20 local reporters, who also hindered police from escorting her out. The incident led many people to question local journalists' right to check her identity. The police also said they had effective procedures to verify journalists' identity.
