A Huawei employee was arrested on suspicion of carrying out espionage activities against Poland, a Polish official announced in Warsaw on Friday. He is reported to have done so on behalf of China.

Weijing W, reportedly a director of the Polish branch of Chinese telecommunications giant Huawei, and Piotr D, reportedly a former agent of Poland’s domestic security service, were arrested in connection with the allegations on Tuesday, according to officials.

The accused will be detained for three months as domestic intelligence continues its investigation.
