A Peruvian court ordered the arrest on former Peruvian President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski, while also authorising a search of his properties, as part of an ongoing investigation into money laundering, in Lima on Wednesday.
Police were stationed outside his home in Lima's financial district.
Prior to his arrest, 80-year-old Kuczynski was taken to a medical installation, where he underwent an examination as part of the official procedures.
A judge ordered the former president to be detained for a preliminary period of 10 days.
He is accused of accepting bribes in exchange for government contracts awarded to Brazilian construction giant Odebrecht.
Kuczynski resigned in March 2018 after becoming embroiled in the 'Car Wash' corruption scandal.
