Skiers and snowboarders took to the slopes in full carnival wear to mark the start of the BoogelWoogel festival on Friday at Sochi's Rosa Khutor mountain resort.
A column of pirates skied in a ship-like formation to lead the 700-strong group downhill.
Some came dressed in an individual style, as wintersports' enthusiasts and partygoers enjoy the best of the Russian skiing season.
BoogelWoogel quickly became Russia's largest mountain festival after its first edition in 2016. The festival highlight - a swim suit downhill will take place on Saturday.
