American media mogul Oprah Winfrey paid tribute to the memory of Nelson Mandela on Thursday at an event hosted by the Nelson Mandela Foundation, ahead of a global celebration to mark 100 years since his birth.

During her speech Winfrey, who also owns a school in South Africa, said the late anti-apartheid campaigner was her "favourite mentor".
