Notre-Dame Cathedral Engulfed By Fire

According to Reuters, a blaze has engulfed Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris.

The fire broke out early in the evening on April 15th.

One witness said they saw the whole rooftop collapse as the flames spread throughout the 12th century structure.

Around 8 p.m. local time, the iconic spire collapsed into the cathedral.

Originally built as a bell tower, the steeple at Notre-Dame stood since 1852.

The cathedral was being renovated, with scaffolding surrounding parts of the structure.

Due to the renovation work, bronze statues of the 12 apostles were removed last week.
