Residents in the Dutch city of Utrecht created impromptu memorials on Tuesday after a deadly tram shooting the previous day.

Flowers were laid near the scene of the shooting as well as on a tram platform.

"We're all people, from no matter what country you come, we have to live together but not against each other. Love is the message, that's it," said Rene Kaise, a local resident who was moved by the tributes.

The police have named 37-year-old Gokmen Tanis as their primary suspect and have released his photo in the media.

Two other men, aged 23 and 27, have also been detained in connection with the shooting.

Three people died and three others were seriously injured after a gunman opened fire in a tram at around 09:45 GMT.
