The leaders of Mexico and Honduras have signed a pledge to curb the number of Central American migrants seeking asylum in the United States.

Honduras will adopt similar programmes to Mexico, which has put people to work planting trees, and will offer a monthly payment to young students.

The pledge was signed in the Mexican state of Veracruz.

Al Jazeera's Manuel Rapalo reports.
