Malaysia's anti-graft chief said Monday that the government has fined 80 individuals and entities for allegedly receiving money from the state fund -- 1Malaysia Development Berhad. Malaysian and American investigators said that about 4.5 billion U.S. dollars was misappropriated from 1MDB. The fund was set up in 2009 by former Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak. He is now facing dozens of graft and money laundering charges over allegations that he received about one billion U.S. dollars from the fund. The head of Malaysia's Anti-Corruption Commission said the agency was aiming to recover a hundred million U.S. dollars from those individuals and entities.
