The lockdown imposed by coronavirus has not stopped an elderly German-Danish couple from meeting over a drink at the border town of Aventoft, as footage filmed on Sunday shows.

Inga Rasmussen, an 85-year old lady from Denmark and her boyfriend Karsten Tuchsen Hansen, 89, from Germany, meet daily at the border to have lunch and enjoy a cup of coffee while sitting at the recommended safe distance.

"The time is getting longer when you are sitting alone at home, but it is what it is and we can't change that. We never thought we would live through something like that," explained Inga, who drives from her town of Gallehus to meet her fiancee Karsten from Suderlugum.

The pair have been dating for two years and were cut off from each other after Germany and Denmark locked down due to the pandemic.

"For us there are no borders," said Karsten, adding "It doesn't matter if it rains, it is windy, as we sit here everyday, and we will keep doing it until the border is open."
