Areas of Louisiana are disappearing as the coastline deteriorates, because of climate change. According to Huffington Post, "In January 2016, the Department of Housing and Urban Development awarded the state of Louisiana $92 million for disaster resilience in coastal communities facing rising sea levels." $48 million of it was put towards relocating the Isle de Jean Charles Band of Biloxi-Chitimacha-Choctaw Tribe, which lost it's land to climate change. Unfortunately the state of Louisiana retracted the plan and it putting the money towards something else.
