Children played at being soldiers as Thailand's military opened up their barracks to mark the country's annual Children's Day in Bangkok on Saturday.

Kids were allowed to climb the army's armoured vehicles and play with tanks and heavy machine guns, in what has become a traditional event in the country.

Known as "Wan Dek" in Thai, Children's Day falls on the second Saturday of January each year. It is held to highlight the idea that children represent the future of the Thai nation.
