Ukraine’s Central Election Commission (CEC) announces the preliminary results of the country’s snap parliamentary election in Kiev on Monday, July 22.

More than 3,000 candidates and 65 parties have been registered for the elections. Twenty-two parties are taking part in the nationwide closed party lists and after the results are in, 225 candidates will be elected from those of the parties that receive over five percent of the vote.

Parliamentary elections were to be held in September this year, but the newly elected Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced the dissolution of parliament while speaking at his inauguration ceremony on May 20 and several days later scheduled snap parliamentary elections for July 21.
