Russian President Vladimir Putin lands in Berlin on Saturday, August 18, ahead of talks with German Chancellor Angela Merkel. The meeting is set to take place later in the day at the German federal government’s Schloss Meseberg, north of Berlin.

The two leaders are meeting for the first time since last May’s summit in the Russian Black Sea town of Sochi, and are expected to discuss ongoing foreign policy issues.

Topping the agenda of the high-level meeting will be the Syrian conflict, eastern Ukraine and the Nord Stream 2 project, which intends to expand an existing gas pipeline between Russia and Germany via the Baltic Sea.
