The mayor of the Libyan city of Zawiya, west of Tripoli, confirmed that the Jadayem equestrian club was targeted in an air raid on Thursday.

Jamal Abdelnasser Baher said that several horses were killed or injured and property was damaged in the attack.

Footage shows a wounded horse being taken care of and local residents showing where the incident took place.

Libya's UN-backed government blamed forces of General Khalifa Haftar for Thursday's strikes which also reportedly targeted Mitiga airport and a hospital in Swani region, south of the capital.

The forces of General Haftar launched an offensive on Tripoli in April but have so far failed to take control of the city.
