Armed police officers could be seen patrolling streets in Srinagar, in the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir, amid curfew imposed on an Indian-administrated Kashmir region, as shown in footage filmed over the weekend.
Residents also reportedly faced shortages of basic food supplies, as shops remained closed.
According to reports, the Indian government has briefly alleviated the curfew for the Eid al-Adha prayers, allowing Muslim worshipers to use ATM machines and buy food at local shops in preparation for the religious festival. However, phone lines and internet remain down.
The curfew follows India's constitution's Article 370's revocation which guaranteed substantial autonomy for the territory.
