Canada's Justin Trudeau has secured a second term as prime minister but his Liberal Party has not gained enough seats for a parliamentary majority.

It means Trudeau will now have to rely on the support of the New Democratic Party to push through key legislation.

The main opposition Conservative Party picked up where Liberal support fell.
