A Japanese woman was named the world's oldest person at the age of 116 years old by Guinness World Records on Saturday, March 9, 2019.

Kane Tanaka lives in a nursing home in Fukuoka City in southern Japan and received Guinness World Records for both being the world's oldest living person and oldest living woman.

Tanaka was born on January 2, 1903, and cried when she was given the title and said the moment of recognition was the most exciting one of her life.
