A Japanese government minister spoke out on the pushback against women forced to wear high heels at work. He said: "It is socially accepted as something that falls within the realm of being occupationally necessary and appropriate.” Going beyond that social understanding he said would be an abuse of power. According to CNN, a petition started by Yumi Ishikawa made an argument against it. Even with thousands of signatures, there doesn’t seem any interest to change the laws.
