Former FC Barcelona captain and Vissel Kobe midfielder Andres Iniesta called the upcoming friendly match against his previous club ‘a special game‘ at a news conference in Kobe on Friday. Iniesta joined the event with former team-mate Sergio Busquets.
"Well for us, as a club and a team I think it is a privilege to be able to play against Barca. It's a very special game, that we will all try to savour. At a personal level it is evidently special for me to face many former team-mates", said Iniesta at the news conference that was also attended by Kobe and Barcelona coaches Thorsten Fink and Ernesto Valverde.
"It is special to be able to be here, to meet him, to be able to see him at a new stage of his career", said FC Barcelona player Sergio Busquets about his former team-mate.
Iniesta, who won 31 trophies with Barcelona, joined Vissel in May 2018 after 16 seasons with the Catalan club.
Saturday's Rakuten Cup match will see Barcelona's current line-up facing ex-team-mates Iniesta, David Villa and Sergi Samper, all now playing for Vissel.
