It was cheaper to rent than buy in most U.S. cities in 2018.

That’s according to a new report from property database ATTOM Data Solutions.

It’s because home prices are growing faster than wages.

The report found that was true in 80% of U.S. markets.

The report analyzed 755 counties nationwide.

It was cheaper to rent a three-bedroom property than to buy a median-priced home in 59% of the counties.

This was the case in each of the nation’s 18 most populated counties.

But renters also have affordability issues.

Average rents jumped faster than earnings in 52% of markets in 2018.

Here's hoping for a raise this year!
