League Party leader Matteo Salvini criticised Italy's new cabinet speaking in the Senate in Rome on Tuesday.
"I do not envy you [Conte] today. A position that is a product of betrayal, disloyalty and personal interest may be the most important position in the world, but it is a position that I would never be able to hold, not even for 15 minutes," said Salvini.
He addressed senators ahead of the second confidence vote of Giuseppe Conte's new government after it passed the first test on Monday.
"This is a government based on the division of positions and on fear. The only fear that is now clear to everyone is the fear of going back to elections and being left at home by Italians and having to actually work again," said Salvini.
The former deputy prime minister argues that the new coalition between rivals 5-Star Movement (M5S) and the centre-left Democratic Party (PD) would not work and calls for an early election.
