Italy: PM Conte given mandate to form government

Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte spoke at the presidential palace in Rome on Thursday after getting the mandate from Italian President Sergio Mattarella to form new government.

Italy's crisis began on August 20 when Conte resigned after Deputy Prime Minister Matteo Salvini withdrew his League Party from the governing coalition and proposed a no-confidence vote against Conte.
