The Italian Anti-Mafia Investigation Directorate held a press conference in Rome on Wednesday, hours after the end of a huge international investigation which led to the arrests of 90 people and the seizure of Ndrangheta Mafia's assets in four different countries.

The investigation unveiled that drugs transferred and stocked in Northern Europe are later sent to Italy and other markets, mainly by land transports, according to Italian State Attorney Giovanni Bombardieri.

The investigation, code-named 'Operation Pollino,' was carried out across Italy, Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany, and involved hundreds of police officers who stormed Italian bars and restaurants thought to be laundering money.
