Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said he would discuss the situation in Syria and "efforts to block the Iranian aggression in our region" when he meets US National Security Advisor John Bolton Sunday evening, during a weekly cabinet meeting in Jerusalem on Sunday.

The Israeli prime minister said the evaluation of the situation in Syria comes after US President Donald Trump's decision last month to disengage US troops from the country, and after a phone exchange he had with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday.

"We operate against any element that undermines, or tries to undermine, the security of Israel," said Netanyahu.

Bolton and Netanyahu are scheduled to meet on Sunday evening.
