Yisrael Beitenyu party leader Avigdor Lieberman said that his party will not recommend neither Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu nor Blue and White party leader Benny Gantz to form a new government. Lieberman spoke in Neve Ilan on Sunday.

"The moment Benjamin Netanyahu and the Likud decided to close the bloc with religious parties and with the messianic gang, we will not be able to recommend Benjamin Netanyahu, he cannot be our recommendation and we cannot be part of this bloc," said Lieberman.

"There is a party, within the Knesset, that is trying to destroy us from the inside, and for me their place is, in the best case scenario, in Ramallah's parliament, not in the Israeli Knesset," said Lieberman on Gantz.

"I repeat and say, I don't see myself with Meretz, with the messianic, with the ultra-orthodox or the Joint List. We have defined to ourselves one option, the three parties [Blue and White, Likud and Yisrael Beitenu], if we can form a government like that I'll be happy, if not, like people greater than us say, it's a big honour to serve the people of Israel in the opposition too."

The latest results show that Benny Gantz's Blue and White party is leading by two seats with 33 out of 120 seats in the Knesset with 97 percent of the vote counted. Netanyahu's coalition with ultra-Orthodox as well as right wing parties currently holds 55 seats while Gantz's bloc stands at 57.

In a historic move Israel's Arab parties, who won 13 seats running as a joint list, announced earlier on Sunday that they would be backing Gantz, although party leaders emphasised that the move was motivated by the alliance's desire to block Netanyahu and was not an endorsement of Gantz's policies.
