A couple from Nasiriyah, Dhi Qar Governorate, celebrated their wedding on Thursday despite the lockdown imposed in the country amid the coronavirus pandemic.
The local police supported the young groom, Hossam Ahmed, who sent a special request to the Dhi Qar authorities, sending a special patrol to guarantee the security of the couple and their guests on their special day.
"We appealed to the command of the Dhi Qar police, and the call was answered. We were taken by the personal car of the police chief. We thank the Dhi Qar police," said the happy groom, sending wishes of security and safety to country's citizens.
The Iraqis are living under curfew since March 22 amid the COVID-19 spread in the country. According to data released by Johns Hopkins University the country has registered over 1,200 coronavirus cases with at least 69 deaths.
