Iran's supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said on Friday that Iran's missile strikes on U.S. targets in Iraq showed it had divine support in delivering a "slap on the face" to a "bullying" world power.

In his first Friday prayers sermon in eight years, the Supreme Leader also told thousands of Iranians who chanted "Death to America" that European states could not be trusted after they launched a nuclear agreement dispute mechanism.

Khamenei used his rare appearance at the weekly prayers to deliver a fiery address in which he insisted Iran would not bow to U.S. pressure after months of crushing sanctions and a series of recent crises — from the killing of a top Iranian general to the accidental shootdown of a Ukrainian passenger plane.
